Agustín Rolando Rojas Leyva

Was born in Havana, Cuba, on May 5, 1959.

He develops engraving, drawing and painting. He studies at the Provincial School of Plastic Arts "San Alejandro", Havana, Cuba at the elementary level and attends the higher level of Plastic Arts at the Higher Institute of Art (I.S.A), Havana, Cuba.

PERSONAL EXHIBITIONS
His first personal exhibition takes place in 1986, it was titled "Landscapes". Provincial Center of Plastic Arts and Design, Havana, Cuba. In the same year he presents "Además de Watercolor". San Miguel del Padrón Art Gallery, Havana, Cuba.

COLLECTIVE EXHIBITIONS
Throughout his career he has participated collectively in several exhibitions and events. In 1983 he participates in the "Encuentro de Engraving '83". Thespis room. Habana Libre Hotel, Havana, Cuba. In 1990 I International Engraving Biennial, Julio Prieto Nespereira Award. Caixa Ourense, Orense, Spain. One year later in 1991 11th International Mini Print of Cadaqués Fort Gallery Workshop, Cadaqués, Barcelona, ​​Spain. In 1994 he is part of the exhibitions "Touch the other shore". In 1997, the artist won an Artist Residency at the Banff Center for the Arts in Calgary and came to Canada. After living in Canada for six years, Agustin Rolando Rojas moved to the U.S.A where he lived for four years. Currently living and working in Toronto, Canada since 2007, his goals still are linked with international scope of printmaking biennials.
